When people used to think of Sun Valley, it was safe to assume they were thinking about winter and skiing. In the 23 years as Sun Valley’s agency of record, Penna Powers played a key role in rebranding the resort and changing the perception of Sun Valley from a skier’s paradise into an unparalleled year-round getaway for all.

Turning a Skiing Area Into a World-Class Winter Destination

In preparation to host the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, Snowbasin completed a four year transformation from a locals-only ski area to a grand, world-class resort. Penna Powers created a campaign to feature Snowbasin’s new transformation to media while also featuring the resort as a premier Olympic venue. By creating a buzz about what the resort has to offer and highlighting the new developments and amenities available, Snowbasin has been recognized internationally as a top ski destination.

Mixing the Best Snow with the Best Two Years on Record

Penna Powers worked with Solitude Mountain Resort to increase awareness of their unique attributes among both local and national skiers. The “If you only knew….” campaign included outdoor, print and collateral elements as well as a website refresh—all leading to Solitude’s best two years on record.

2016 – Honored with the coveted Golden Spike “Best of Show” award for “Sundance—Helping Sundance Share Its Story Nationwide” and also earned a perfect score from the judges.

2017 – Recognized as “Best Digital Campaign of the Year” for Sundance’s “Create Your Story” campaign at The Samy Awards held by Utah Business.

2016 – Awarded three Telly Awards for the “Create Your Story” online videos series including “The Story of Sundance,” “An Olympic Tale” and “Sundance Spark.”
