Zero Fatalities RFP - Website Design

RideToLive.utah.gov

Utah Department of Public Safety

Primary Audience: Motorcyclists
Secondary Audience: Drivers

As motorcycle deaths continued to reach all-time highs in 2019, there was a need for a place where riders could find detailed information on how to keep themselves safe. Penna Powers recommended updating RideToLive.utah.gov to be Utah’s hub for motorcycle safety where quality information for rider education and rider classes could be found. That same year, Utah’s Legislature passed a bill allowing lane filtering by motorcycles. Penna Powers and DPS created numerous educational videos and assets to inform the public about lane filtering that now reside on the website. This law went into effect May 14, 2019.

“The website couldn’t have come online at a more perfect time!” ~ Lt. Nick Street

Penna Powers put together content to migrate and update the new “Ride to Live Utah” motorcycle safety website, which focuses on what motorcyclists can do to keep themselves safe — focusing on strategy, skills and gear. Due to the new Lane Filtering law, much of this project’s effort was to help increase awareness of this new law. Another focus was on placing messaging to promote motorcycle training at the beginning of the riding season. Specific lane filtering videos were created and placed on the “Ride to Live Utah” website. After the launch campaign, the website received nearly 2 million completed views with more than 18,000 click-throughs.

“All in all, this is good stuff, and frankly, I’m impressed with the level of assets being produced by Utah’s state agencies, especially compared to California.” ~ CityBike.com
